2021.10.19 11:21 jennervk "Watching Worlds" mission stuck at 11/25

I have been watching pretty much all of worlds, but the 3rd mission got stuck at 11/25, I have definitely watched more than 14 games since then and it still hasnt updated.
Here you can even see my "games watched" increasing, while the mission doesn't change. Does anyone know why this is happening or how i might fix it?

2021.10.19 11:21 Springoath writing as a creative medium has failed to catch up to the modern era, and thats killing us.

this is kind of in response to another post I saw about being a full time writer.
of course, everything I say is my own opinion. Anyways It's 5am, I'm sitting at my work desk doing nothing important, so lets get right into it. (warning, grammatical errors WILL ensue.)
Writing as a job has failed to modernize with the rest of world and will eventually have zero profitability for anyone outside of very rare and very extreme cases. And the biggest reason for that is our collective fear of social interaction.
Social media has proven to be the great divider between artists finding success in the modern era and sulking in obscurity. we as writers often think of our work as singular, something that can only be interacted with once, during the writing process. but much like any other creative field, our work is something that can and should be interacted with on multiple levels in multiple ways. rather than simply publish to a company and advertise, we should be interacting with our audiences in more meaningful and tangible ways. I don't mean book signings, book signings are the perhaps the laziest and most disconnected ways of interacting with an audience a writer can think of. You the writer are simply sitting down and signing a signature over and over, maybe giving a few words of hollow advice or encouragement here and there, awkwardly shaking hands with the few dozens of people there. We act as if our work doesn't have any life to it, when in reality our work breaths and lives just like we do, and just like us, our works need to be nourished and well-kept.
A good example of what I mean by this can be found with J.K Rowling and her recent exploits. Regardless of what your or my opinion of her may be, she still manages to breath life into Harry Potter simply by keeping up with current events and trends and relating them to her characters. her retcons to the series via tweets wouldn't have been nearly as palpable if they were made during the series original publication. If she told readers that Dumbledore was gay through in the context of her book, then it would have remained in the meta of her audience, something that readers would pick up on first before anyone else. Because she made those changes through social media, people that aren't currently reading the books were still able to interact with and react to the story and world without having to open the book and find the specific text. Rather they were able to interact directly with the author, and see her mindset in action. this also works the other way around too. Rowling, despite having published and made bank with Harry Potter, still continued develop its world and characters in the context of itself, not in a sequel/prequel made and developed years later. The changes she made to Harry Potter were seen in real time. Another aspect of this is the fact that a character was revealed to be gay in an era where homosexual acceptance is at an all time high, this shows that she's paying attention to real world trends and is relating them to her work, however miniscule or shoehorned those trends may be.
However, while this is definitely a successful case of a writer using social media to interact with their work and audience, it is a writer who already has an audience world wide, and has already seen critical and financial success. But that doesn't mean we should ignore the implications of this case.
Writing does not have to be a one and done deal, we can write our stories, books, poems, what have you, and still interact with them in meaningful ways years after publication. Social media has proven this in every other field of artistry. Artists use social media to post WIPs, interact with their audiences, share ideas, ect. But the main result of this interaction is that it humanizes the artist and lets the audience build a stronger connection to both the work and the artist. An audience seeing the creation process builds a stronger relationship between them and the art, because it allows them to see in greater detail how exactly that art is made and the thought process of the artist.
This can be applied to writing as well. there are a myriad of different ways we can interact with both our audience and our work if we use social media correctly. However Social media is only one way we can contribute to the interaction and creation of our work as a whole. While you might think that as a writer, your only to is to write, but that couldn't be further the the truth. In reality, our job as writers isn't simply to write, as much as I would love to make the argument that it is.
Let me ask you this, what is a cake makers job? if you said "to make cakes" then you'd only be partly right. A cake maker's job is: to use math to make sure the cake is made properly, to use creative design to make sure the cake looks good, and lastly to use marketing to showcase it to a wide audience so they can create more clients and keep making cakes. That's three different jobs a cake maker has, and depending on whether or not they are apart of a team or solo, they could have even more jobs. the same for an artist, they use different skills from different fields both creative and non-creative to continue doing what they love.
for writers it should be the same. Why is it that despite the fact that most book covers are in made in programs like photoshop, we rely on others to create the art for us? why is it that despite social media being completely and utterly free to use, that we rely on publishers to get our names out there? why is that despite the fact that we could make our writing so much more interactive just by applying skills in different creative fields, that we choose to simply stick to words and let everything else be done by someone else? In an era where freelancing in the creative community has become more viable with each year, we as writers have chosen to stick to our traditions, and languish in the past simply because that's the way things have been done thus far. for decades we were used to simply being just writers, working only with our minds, our words, and our agents. But frankly, in the modern era, we as writers cannot afford to be so lazy. we need to pick up new skills from all sorts of different fields, we need to advocate for ourselves and start thinking of writing not as something rigid and unmovable, but as something lives, breaths, and is flexible.
There's so much more that can be done with the medium of writing if we simply stepped outside of the comfort zone of tradition and tried new things. I ask you one last question: What do you see your writing as? is it words you feel you can't say out loud? is something you want to inspire people with? or is it something else altogether? regardless of what you see it as, I want you to stop thinking of it as "just writing", because you can make it so much more than that.
TL;DR: Learn new stuff that isn't writing, and get on twitter.

2021.10.19 11:21 caca-cats Shop has been acting weirdly for the past 2 months

Just a bit of context, I opened my shop in June and lots of people were visiting my shop and I got my first sale within 4 days. Then my shop got suspended and I opened it up after a couple of weeks. Now, it’s been losing views every single day for the past month, I’m talking about 3 visits on an average day. I’ve been active in advertising and putting out new listings, how do I get my shop back on track again?

2021.10.19 11:21 Gloomy_Intern8345 Use lighter sleeping bag + parka?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for sleeping bags for Aconcagua, and it looks like the Astro Pro 1000 or Marmot Never Summer (T comf. -12C, T lim. -21C, T ext. -44C) offers the best temperature range for this mountain.

However, I am thinking about buying a lower rated sleeping bag, like the Astro Pro 800 (T comf. -7C, T lim. -14C, T ext. -35), and use it with my parka in the higher camps. The idea is to get the large size (L) so I will not compress the sleeping bag with the extra layers.

The biggest motivation is to get a sleeping bag that will not sous vide me during normal winter camps (0 - 5C), so I will hopefully use it more than three nights every 2 years.

Does it sounds like a bad idea? Has anyone experience with this setup?
